Does anyone have any info on Lovedale Road? My family uses it every day and any info on it would be greatly appreciated.

I asked one of the actual workers at the construction site on Lovedale as to how long it would be closed, and this is what he said:
"It will probably be closed until mid-September."
I completely forgot to ask him if it was a permanent closure.
In other words, I don't know if it's closed 24/7, or if it maybe opens temporarily during the evening.
Other input would be appreciated.
Hope this helps.

Put yourself in the workers' shoes whose job site is Lovedale.
Would you want the work to end?
Of COURSE not.
In this economy, you would want that job - or any job for that matter - to last as long as possible.
The longer it lasts, the more they're gainfully employed.
And let's face it folks.
Winter is right around the corner.
So what does winter mean for these workers?
It's means a layoff - temporarily - at least.
And they know this.
Ask them though, and they'll naturally tell you they're not dragging their feet.
Not at all.

With due respect, Carol, there is nothing Rapid whatsoever about your Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
Here is a verbatim quote that was made to me by one of the workers at the actual job site:
"The bridge will reopen to traffic by mid-September."
He told me that in late August.
Appreciate your coming on here to keep us informed.
Too little, too late, however.
Thanks nevertheless.

Danger on Lovedale Road ...

If you're traveling from Giant Eagle ... to CoGo's,
there are two VERY large steel plates that span the entire lane.
The approximate size of these plates is 20' x 10'
They were presumably placed there after the recent construction on Lovedale.

Here's the problem:
Those steel plates are placed on a curve in the road.
Just saw a fender bender.
Can't be sure, but my best guess is that since it's 26° right now, those smooth steel plates froze over.
Since the road banks the "wrong" way for drivers in that lane, one driver probably drove onto those steel plates

... and slid off ... into an oncoming car.

Like I said, no major damage, but you'll want to be careful,
especially in sub-freezing temperatures.
